Special/Sports Events

A great day was had by a lucky group of our older children.  They spent the day at the Olympic Park seeing the developments towards the exciting games in 2012.  Many thanks to the staff for taking them…we heard lots of good news about our ambassadors too!

Dear Parents/Carers

TESCO GREAT SCHOOL RUN

As part of your child’s PE they will be attending the Tesco Great School Run tour at Eaton Park on Friday 27th May 2011. The aim of the event is to encourage children, friends and teachers to take part in exercise for fun, and to help make physical activity part of each school’s and every family’s lifestyle.

I am delighted to announce that former Olympic Athlete Colin Jackson will be supporting the event and will be available to talk to pupils and sign autographs. The programme will also include information on healthy eating and menu planning resources, recipes, healthy games, competitions (including the chance to win a helicopter ride, sports equipment of VIP trips to sporting events).

Your child will require a packed lunch and full PE kit on the day, with plenty of water.  Transport will be provided and the whole event is free of charge.

If you would like to meet us at Eaton Park and join in I will be delight to see you there.

This is a great opportunity for the children. Please sign below to authorise your child’s release from school. Any child who does not have permission unfortunately will have to stay in school.

Thank you.

Dear Parents/Carers

Dance Show Case 25th May, 2011

Your child has been selected to take part in the Dance Show Case this year, which will be held at OPEN on 25th May.

Lots more details will follow in due course regarding costumes which will be required, purchase of tickets, rehearsals and on the day requirements. The children are rehearsing during PE lessons, and we hope to produce a great show for you to enjoy. The theme this year is Musicals.

I will keep you posted throughout the next few weeks.  As well as dance the children have been asked to put their acting skills into this performance and many are excelling, which is great to see.

Last year I found it was a great boost to pupil confidence, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience; albeit hard work leading up to the event.  In addition, I felt it offered year 6 a lasting memory of their final year in Primary school; for this reason I chose year 6 again to participate.

With kind regards,

Nikki Coxhead
